Holiday Program Review

We enjoyed the new location for our holiday party at Queen City Yacht Club, featuring spectacular views of Portage Bay.  With over 60 people attending, visiting with old friends and new was a highlight of the event. Chef Willie presented us with a marvelous buffet breakfast. Click on pictures to see them larger and step through the slide show using the arrows at the sides.

Reitha Weeks provided a power point presentation about Tech Trek, a weeklong sleep-away summer camp at Pacific Lutheran University focused on math, science and technology. The five Tech Trek campers who joined us each shared their favorite camp activity, what surprised them the most, and how Tech Trek changed their future educational and career plans. There was plenty of space for the many raffle baskets (thanks to members who made unique and varied baskets). Raffle manager, Madeline, was well-prepared with the tickets, bags and labeling system for the raffle. We made $1,250 with the raffle and donations for Tech Trek! Thanks to all who made that possible.

Our president, Gay, presided over the meeting and we were entertained by an excellent string duo: Tim Wetmiller on violin and Elena DesLisle on guitar playing a mix of classically oriented jazz, bluegrass and Latin music.

We were delighted so many members attended, some bringing relatives and friends. Our holiday breakfast is definitely a favorite event for our members and we’re hoping to repeat at Queen City Yacht Club next year. Extra special thanks to our member Julia, her husband Chris and their son Justin who were our sponsors at the QCYC and who assisted in set-up and clean-up afterwards. Thanks to Judy, Madeline, Pamela and the program committee who were instrumental in putting the event together.
