Finding the Silver Lining in your Traumatic Experiences with Annabel Quintero

Finding the Silver Lining in your Traumatic Experiences with Annabel Quintero was so interesting. She went through her book – Step Step Jump - which she wrote during the pandemic. Quintero’s parents immigrated from Ecuador. She told us about her family dynamics and how she defied her family and took off on her own from Seattle to New York City in pursuit of a career in finance. She found her ideal job with a financial company which just happened to place her on the 46th floor of the Twin Towers on September 11th. She made it out using step step jump with her body, but the experience and it’s after effects were very traumatic.

Like so many traumatic experiences, she had buried it for years until the pandemic brought it out again. She told of the ways she used to find peace with her trauma including indigenous ways, meditation, silence, writing and others.

She is a very feisty person and had many accomplishments to her name both before and after this traumatic event. She currently works as an inspiring speaker, storyteller, wellness coach and diversity advisor.

We had our meeting at El Centro de la Raza (The Center for People of All Races). It’s an organization grounded in the Latino community of Washington State and their mission is to build community through unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of our most vulnerable and marginalized populations. Learn more about this great old building and a great organization celebrating their 50-year anniversary on the El Centro de la Raza website.
