Seattle AAUW is supporting a webinar on the Daraja Academy, a boarding school for marginalized girls located near Nanyuki, Kenya, that focuses on providing education, leadership skills, and a safe environment. The Bush School is a K-12 independent school based in Seattle, Washington, that promotes experiential learning. The Bush School and Daraja Academy have established a partnership focused on education, cultural exchange, and empowerment that allows students to share experiences and support girls’ education through the following:
- Exchange Visits: Students and faculty from The Bush School visit the Daraja Academy campus to connect with students and learn about Kenyan culture.
- Tujane Pen-Pal Program: Upper School students from Bush connect directly with Daraja girls, exchanging personal stories and lifestyle experiences.
- Race 4 Daraja: The Bush School community participates in this fundraiser, which supports the education of girls at Daraja.
- Educational Impact: The program highlights the value of, and provides, a unique, immersive, and project-based learning experience for students.
