In this special STEM program via Zoom, Dr. Charity Woodrum will share her journey from rural Canyonville, Oregon, through poverty and personal tragedy, to studying the stars at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. Currently, she is a NASA Postdoctoral Program Fellow working on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) team. She is also a member of the Oregon Online Branch.

Charity earned a B.S. in Physics at the University of Oregon, where she conducted research with Dr. Scott Fisher and Dr. Inger Jørgensen. She was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Arizona’s Steward Observatory, where she earned her PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
