Jenny will give us a quick course in Immigration 101 including updates on immigration law and its impact on survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Jenny is the Directing Attorney of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project’s (NWIRP) Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Unit. The VAWA Unit represents immigrant survivors of violence with VAWA Self-Petitions, I-751 Waiver Petitions, U Visas, and T Visas, as well as removal defense. In addition, she also oversees NWIRP’s Social Services Unit (SSU).
Jenny received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and her J.D. from the University of Iowa. She spent five years practicing law at Farmworker Legal Services of Michigan before joining NWIRP in May 2008. She is fluent in Spanish.
We will also hear briefly from the college students we sponsored to the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL). This is a three-day conference in Washington DC which unites college womxn and gender non-conforming students from across the nation for a transformative experience in leadership development, networking, and inspiration.
