Lobby Day, AAUW Washington State, Don’t Miss It!

The theme for our AAUW-WA January 27 Lobby Day event is Challenges and Opportunities. Lobby Day is always fascinating and motivating.  We will hear from our Olympia lobbyist Nancy Sapiro about pending WA legislation and other inspiring speakers.  Required Free Meeting Registration - Zoom As AAUW-WA Public Policy Director Sandra Distelhorst has said, This is not a time to step back but a time to step up our advocacy efforts. The current word among activists is focus on the local.

What can you do and how can we assist? The week after Lobby Day is the opportunity for you to:

• meet virtually with your WA legislator(s) or
• call your WA legislator(s) and leave a message or talk with the Aide or
• send your WA legislator(s) an email (template provided)

When you contact your representative(s), you’ll want to mention some bills we support and why, as well as thanking them for supporting policies that advance and protect women’s equity and wellbeing. We can assist you in doing these things by providing contact info and bills AAUW-WA will be supporting.

Like last year, we will have Request for Support template letters with bills we support to email to legislators that you can tailor to your legislative district (LD). Our members reside in 20 different LD’s. Five LD’s with 10 or more branch members (33,34,36,43,46), cover 2/3 of our WA residents. We will especially need a lead in each of those 5 LD’s to send out the Request for Support email.
