Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring will be brought to life for us by inspiring storyteller and actress Debbie Dimitre.
Rachel Carson, American scientist and marine biologist, wrote Silent Spring, the book many believe started the environmental movement. She was the recipient of an AAUW Achievement Award in 1956 and she used the money to complete her research and write her landmark book.
Since 1987, Northwest storyteller and actress Debbie Dimitre has been entertaining, inspiring, and educating audiences of all ages with her historical and dramatic storytelling presentations. Find out more about Debbie Dimitre.
*This is an in-person presentation. For the safety of our members, we will be checking vaccination cards at the door. Masks are required. We will not be serving food at this meeting, so please bring your own water, coffee or tea as needed.
Reminder: Bring a book to lend (or a book idea on paper) related to diversity and inclusion. See the March Catalyst for details.
We’ll be collecting feminine hygiene products for local shelters in honor of Women’s History Month. Please bring what you can.
The Watertown Hotel is close to public transportation in the University District. Carpooling is suggested, however, the hotel has a parking garage below the hotel that is easy to enter from the left lane of Roosevelt Ave (one-way street south). To open the parking garage gate, use the call button to tell the hotel operator you are there for the AAUW meeting.
